Meet the Community Liaison Committee!

What we do:

The Community Liaison Committee is the main liaison between the CITA and the Community. Responsibilities include:

  • Scholarships for Graduating High School Seniors: The committee, in conjunction with the Scholarship Committee, coordinates the collection of scholarship funds and the selection of the recipients.
  • Standard Scholars: The committee coordinates the presentation of awards to high achieving students from grades 2 - 11. The awards are presented at the end of each marking period at School District Board Meetings.
  • Rising Stars: The committee coordinates the presentation of awards to students from grades K - 1 who demonstrate generosity and citizenship. The awards are presented at the end of a marking period at School District Board Meetings.
  • Local Organizationsons: Committee members have joined various local organizations in which they wil attend meetings. They are the Central Islip PTA Council, The Long Island Progressive Coalition, Labor-Religion Coalition, Long Island Immigrant Alliance and Long Island Jobs with Justice.
  • In addition, the Community Liaison Committee will be the face of the CITA in the community. This will involve the coordination of various volunteer efforts throughout the school year such as a PRONTO food drive or helping out at Knights of Columbus.
