Meet the Negotiations Committee!

Chairperson: Michael Romano  Michael Romano

Committee Members: Michele Celenza and Tara Cudak

What we do:

Your Negotiating team is responsible for the negotiation of your terms and conditions of employment. Those terms and conditions are codified in the collective bargaining agreement aka “the contract.” This contract is the culmination of countless hours of thought, conversation, planning, and investigation that precede the actual formal negotiating sessions with the representatives of the Board of Education. The printed book reflects the word, and spirit, of the negotiated Memorandum of Agreement.

While actual contract negotiations do not happen every year, the committee is constantly involved in a variety of tasks: Postings, job descriptions, terms of employment, new forms, grant enactment, and stipulated agreements to name but a few.

Every document produced by the committee must be closely examined with an eye towards long range effects before it is committed to paper. Once something has become hard copy, it becomes part and parcel to the contract and is binding upon all parties. It is the goal of the Negotiations Committee to protect and advance the rights and working conditions of every CITA member.

It is only through the combined efforts of Negotiations, PAC, and PR&R that your rights and terms of employment are maintained at a level where we are truly viewed as the gold standard of the entire state.
